“Our ideas are in everyone’s mind.”
The Situationists

Opening, Thursday, October 16th from 6 to 8pm, Allen Gallery is proud to present Up For Grabs featuring Travis Frazelle, Jeffery Schneider, and Teddy Spath. A collective assemble, Up for Grabs illustrates how the individual functions in today’s undulating society and the changes one can make for a better life. Through their works each artist subtly points out untapped thoughts that may already exist in many people’s minds.

Travis Frazelle
A current resident of Brooklyn, NY, Travis Frazelle originates from California. He currently works as a studio assistant and painter for artist David Salle, and previously worked with Jeff Koons for several years. After graduating from The Art Institute of Chicago with a BFA in 1996, he continued to study painting at The School of Representational Art in Chicago, from which he graduated in 2000. In 2001 he moved to New York to pursue a career in art and for the past 7 years has been a working artist in New York City. His work explores recognizable icons in unfamiliar situations as social commentary.

Jeff Schneider
Jeff Schneider, who also works for David Salle, creates work in his Long Island City studio that primarily encompasses synthesis. The narratives in his paintings are interfused with multiple points of view to allow the viewer to be involved in a situation between the obvious and the abstract.

Teddy Spath
Thomas Spath is originally from New York and is where he presently lives and has his studio. He received his MFA from Colorado College. After getting his MFA, he returned to Brooklyn and Studied with John Murray. He then went on to study at The Atelier Lack in Minneapolis, Minnesota and The School of Representational Art in Chicago. He has worked as a studio assistant for David Salle and Ron Gorchov. Thomas’ work investigates the effectiveness of figurative/narrative painting as a means to expand a dialogue regarding the geopolitical, social, and environmental challenges that face us all.
